After an extensive journey visiting numerous display homes and speaking with several builders, we ultimately chose to engage Ownit Homes, and we’re so glad we did. From the outset, our sales consultant, Jason, was exceptional. He offered valuable insights and creative ideas that helped shape our vision, but what truly stood out was Ownit Homes’ willingness and ability to help us design and build a fully custom dream home at a great price, something many other builders were unwilling to do. 

We initially approached Ownit Homes with nothing more than a hand-drawn sketch of our desired layout. From there, their team worked closely with us to bring our concept to life. Throughout the process, we maintained complete control of the design, and the team provided expert guidance without ever pressuring us into changes we didn’t want, something we really appreciated. 

Our block presented some challenges, particularly as the build was on a knockdown-rebuild site, but these were navigated seamlessly by the Ownit Homes team. The final result exceeded our expectations. Any imperfections identified by the independent inspector (arranged by Ownit Homes) were addressed promptly, and by handover, the home was immaculate. 

Since moving in, any minor issues have also been handled quickly and professionally. Our site supervisor, Paul, has been fantastic, we have great respect for his attention to detail and ability to get things done efficiently. Ian and the rest of the Ownit Homes team have been equally supportive and professional throughout the entire journey. 

Every challenge was met with a solution, and we now have our dream home, exactly as we imagined it when we first drew it on paper. The quality of the trades and workmanship has been consistently impressive. A huge thank you to the entire Ownit Homes team. Having built with Ownit Homes 7 times now, I can confidently say they have outdone themselves this time around. They are one of the few builders who offer custom built homes and complete design flexibility. I came to Ownit with my own external design and ideas and they transformed it into a home that was better than I could have ever imagined.

The entire process from start to finish was an absolute breeze. From the initial paperwork and design selections right through to construction and handover, the team held my hand every step of the way. It is a very scary decision to build, especially for people like me that doesn't know the difference from a tool to another.

There is also the constant public fear of news about companies over promising and underdelivering.

My personal experience is something worth sharing, because we tent to publish the bad but not the good, and there is real professionals that deserve the credit.

Our experience with Ownit Homes was truly rewarding. While the pre-site and contract stages were quite strict—understandably so, as it was a custom build—we appreciated the clarity and structure they provided from the outset. What stood out most was the building phase. It was smooth, efficient, and impressively fast—our home was completed in under 5 months! Even during the wet season, work continued consistently without delays. We were also pleasantly surprised by a few thoughtful inclusions at no extra cost, which really showed Ownit's commitment to value and customer satisfaction. This is the second home I’ve built with Ownit Homes, and I wouldn’t hesitate to build a third. The workmanship is excellent, and communication throughout the process has always been clear and timely. As first time builders, we literally had no clue of how to build our home. A recommendation led us to Ownit Homes. Reasons to consider Ownit Homes:

Affordability: Ownit Homes offers complete transparency. You’ll have the freedom and peace of mind to choose materials and understand potential costs without being limited to a predetermined selection of colours, materials, and appliances. From my experience, Ownit Homes is willing to do maths with you.

Customisation: This is the bread and butter of Ownit Homes. You have control over how you want your home to be. They prioritise your designs and ensure you won’t feel pressured into using pre-designed plans from their displays or brochures. If you’re into specific requirements for structurals, materials and appliances (and in my case; government’s infrastructural requirements), Ownit Homes is more than willing to accommodate your needs.

Addressing Issues Beyond Construction: Few building companies are willing to go the extra mile to resolve issues with their clients. For instance, I faced a covenant problem that was my fault entirely. My home was about 80% complete, but because of this issue the construction was at risk of being demolished (no exaggeration, got legal papers to prove this). Ownit Homes didn’t turn away or threaten legal action against me. Instead, we sat down together to find an acceptable solution that adhered to the covenant code while allowing us to complete the home. Long story short, everything ended up compliant.

Deliverance and Results: What you see, what you want is what you get. The result of the home after overcoming numerous obstacles and challenges did not compromise. Built as promised with fixable defects (those who are less familiar with building homes, ‘every’ construction is guaranteed to have defects). Nothing to complain about really.

Why do I rate Ownit Homes 5 stars? Simply put, Couldn’t find ways to give them a 7-star rating on Google Reviews. Ownit Homes deserves to be recognised as a 7-star building company.

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to the team.  You have a really good team who looks after the clients. I am personally impressed with their timely response to my email, and queries during the build of my house. If i do not say a few words about the following team members, I think it is not fair for them:

Ashleigh - I will start with her. A fantastic young lady who went through with us from the colour selection. Sorted out my queries with a quick turnaround at all times. Love working with her. 

Jackson - Your site supervisor is awesome. Listen to the clients, their concerns and conversation with them patiently. He explained things very calmly. I like the way he approaches clients and sometimes I forget my problem because of his gentle approach. 

Leisa/ Gail - Always helped with admin related queries. Communication is spot on and I love it. 

Tradies - You have really good tradies. Especially your tiler - Chris, I really like him and his skills. Also your electrical team, plumber (Jack) and the carpenter - they are outstanding compared to others.

Tracey - Fantastic in finance side. Again, communication is very good. She is on top of invoicing all the time. 

Last but not least, you Brad. I really appreciate how you engaged with me during the latter part of the construction. You are again a good listener, and will be a very good quality when dealing with clients. 

We will be moving into the house early next week and thank you all for your wonderful support in making our dreams a reality despite to the current challenges in the construction industry.

I arranged a knock down and rebuild with Ownit Homes and after nearly a year of discussing with multiple builders and visiting every display village in SEQ, I went with Ownit. Building was about as stressful as anything I've ever done, given I know nothing about construction. The team at Ownit were genuinely kind and helpful through the process. All specifications / variations were explained to us and clearly documented including provisional sums for site works - unexpected bonus was for us to receive a lower final invoice to reflect unused provisional $'s. Planning to build a house - for the first time in our lives - is a big task! 

A customized design on a rural block, a high wind-rating, uneven terrain and less than ideal access conditions make it even more tricky. To find a project builder to take on those challenges was a true research activity: Ownit Homes came out as the top favourite.

It was and still is a journey, needless to say, but with comprehensive assistance of the Ownit team (sales, engineering, design and admin/co-ordination) we finalized the plans, made fit-out selections and processed approvals. We can certainly say that Ownit Homes operates very professional, all team members are very responsive, they pay attention to detail and importantly – take pride in providing a favourable client outcome.

Now, our Hampton style home is half way build. Not even 3 months ago we started and Lock-up stage is around the corner. Excellent workmanship by Ownit appointed craftsmen is complemented by strict supervision of other contractors through competent site management. Frequent progress updates and forecast on next activities are provided. 

We are very satisfied with the progress so far and looking forward to move into a modern and feature-rich Ownit Home soon.

We built with Ownit Homes a year ago and couldn't be happier!  From the moment we walk through their display home to the handover of our new home, everyone was so genuine and friendly, from our salesman, to our colour consultant, the head office staff and our supervisor. What I really liked was that everything was included in their homes, so I knew exactly what I was getting by walking through their display homes. Our salesman took a lot of time helping us design the best home for our family and from the many homes they have on display, this process was made a lot easier. Our home is everything we imagined and more and the quality of the workmanship is 10 out of 10. This was our first build and we are so glad we did it through Ownit homes. We were let down by another company and the Ownit team swooped in and went out of their way to make our dream a reality. From beginning to end the process was simple and fun. We felt like all of the team at Ownit were approachable and supportive and fantastic communicators. Ownit really understands the financial and emotional investment it takes to make a home and we felt that they were with us all the way. They understood our budget and worked with us to make sure that it was maintained. A year on and we are still impressed by the quality of products and workmanship throughout. We had a new home built by Ownit in 1990. We saw the beautiful show home they had in Beams Rd so asked for exactly the same for us (tiles, paint colours, everything). We were told this is the standard you can expect of your home, just tell us and it will be fixed. We were told it be started on a certain date and finished on a date. It all happened like clockwork. A wonderful experience for us. 2 minor faults afterwards which were soon fixed. Told a certain price and not $1 more did it cost. Some people expect to much I feel?

Smooth construction. Great staff who were helpful along the whole process. No major problems throughout the build and would be happy to recommend Ownit Homes to prospective builders.
