We recommend speaking with an independent financial adviser
Ownit Homes does not provide financial or mortgage advice. The information on this page is a general guide only. We strongly recommend speaking with a licensed mortgage broker or financial adviser to understand the options available to you and your individual circumstances. We can recommend trusted local professionals. Just ask your consultant.
Construction loans
A construction loan (also called a building loan) is designed specifically for building a new home. Unlike a standard home loan, funds are released progressively at each construction stage, which means you only pay interest on the amount drawn down, not the full loan amount.
- Progress payments aligned to Ownit's construction stages
- Interest-only during the build period
- Converts to a standard home loan at completion
- Ask your bank or broker about pre-approval options
First Home Owner Grant (FHOG)
Queensland's First Home Owner Grant provides eligible first home buyers with a grant of $30,000 for new homes valued under $750,000 (contract signed from November 2023). Building with Ownit is an eligible trigger for the FHOG. Your consultant can confirm your eligibility.
Grant amounts and eligibility criteria are set by the Queensland Government and are subject to change. Always confirm current conditions with the Queensland Office of State Revenue or your financial adviser.
Stamp duty concessions
Building a new home rather than buying an established property may attract stamp duty concessions in Queensland. First home buyers may be eligible for full transfer duty concessions on new builds. Speak with your solicitor or financial adviser about your specific circumstances.
